If you could be any mythological creature that ever existed, both ancient and new (or self-created), what would you be and why?
For me, it'd have to be an elf. As to the why... well, I have a lot of stories for that. Short hand of it, it's my nickname from high school. I went to see Lord of the Rings: Two Towers with my uncle in theaters. It was a bit chilly that day, so I wore the tan sweater robe my grandmother had gifted me and had my hair half up, kind of like Legolas'. Add that to small stature and youthful appearance and you get what happened to me. I stood up after the credits and heard laughter along with "She looks like an elf". When I looked it was a group of my peers staring right at me. Obviously it was in teasing toward me (bullying sucks ass folks), but I just brushed it off and joked about it with my friends at school the other day.
About a week later I walk up behind my friends as they're waiting for class and just stand there. They didn't hear me, as I walk quietly, and hadn't noticed me walk up via sight... so when they turned around they had a bit of a fright. Thus I was nicknamed Elf.
Plus... I kinda don't age physically (Shinobi can verify!), and am very in tune with nature to the point I can hear the songs of all living things, from the trees to the snow that falls, weird as that seems (seriously, on a snowy night take a moment and just stand in a quiet field. You'll see what I'm saying).

That is adorably fuzzy, but I have the thought that it'd want to bite my face off if I hugged it

Nah Dargons are harmless, aside from licking you to much. They're part of one of my universes, specifically the Jim Universe. Dargons are essentially blank slate dragons, changing both physically and mentally depending on the environment and the emotions of those around them. The one shown here is Murphy, the sidekick and main mode of Transportation of Jim.

A goblin. Many things often kind of sail over the top of my head and I'm prone to unthinkingly doing something without reason. my first reaction to a problem is to really want to punch it and since that's usually out of the question plan B is to get friends or parents to gang up on it.
